Scouts and families -

This is the first in a series of reminders concerning SUMMER CAMP!!

So far, we are nearly complete on summer camp payments.  The troop has sent the payment to the camp - If you haven't paid, please do so.

The only remaining cost items are:  (These fees will be collected shortly.)

1. merit badge/program fees (see below)
2. scout spending money (as desired, $20-30 is adequate)

What should you be doing now preparing for camp?

      1.  Get your physical exams complete - for the scouts, the class I/II medical exams are good for 3 years, but the front section needs to be updated annually.  Adults - don't forget yours.  Adults over 40 and scouts participating in COPE require a Class III medical - they are good for 12 months.  If you're not sure if yours is current, please contact me.

        2.  Merit badge prerequisites - Some of the badges have homework to be brought to camp, and others have a small fee.  The list following this note covers all the MB's the troop has signed up for, so be sure to review the section below for you son's program.  Failing to accomplish the prerequisites will guarantee your son coming home with an incomplete merit badge.

        3.  Packing - in a frame backpack or footlocker.  See me to look at an example.  The footlockers are plastic, can be locked and are available at places like Lowe's, Wal-mart, etc.  Don't buy one taller than about 18-24" or they won't fit under the cots.  A packing list follows this e-mail.  Those who are participating in Timber Mountain (new scout) program need to bring a backpack, mess kit, and sleeping bag.  The troop has a few backpacks available for loan out.

More to come in the next Update!
